History of IEEE Guntur Sub Section: Established in 2004.
The IEEE Guntur Sub Section is a key organizational unit under the IEEE Hyderabad Section, which falls within IEEE Region 10 (Asia Pacific).
While a specific establishment date for the Guntur Sub Section itself is not immediately available, its history and vibrancy can be traced through the activities and establishment of its associated student branches and its role within the larger Hyderabad Section.
Here are some key pieces of information and milestones:
Parent Section: The Guntur Sub Section is part of the IEEE Hyderabad Section. The Hyderabad Section has a long history, formally introduced as an IEEE sub-section in June 1981 and elevated to a full Section in 1984.
Active Presence: The Guntur Sub Section is noted as a vital part of the Hyderabad Section, hosting and participating in major regional events.
Key Event Example (2020): A significant event hosted by the sub-section was the "Zonal Student Congress – 2020" (a 2-day event on January 3rd–4th, 2020) in association with the IEEE Student Branch of VFSTR (Deemed to be University). The theme was "Capabilities for Industry 4.0," providing a platform for all Student Branches within the Guntur Subsection to network and learn from industry leaders.
Affiliated Student Branches: The sub-section oversees numerous active IEEE Student Branches in the Guntur region, which contribute significantly to its overall activity. Examples include:
K L University Student Branch (IEEE KLUSB): Established on June 4th, 2011, this is noted as a "major organ of IEEE Guntur Sub section."
RVR & JC College of Engineering (RVR & JC CE) Student Branch: Highly active, receiving the Exemplary Student Branch Award from IEEE MGA in 2023.
Leadership and Governance: The sub-section is led by a dedicated team. For example, in 2024, the leadership included the Chair, Dr. Srinivasa Reddy Edara (VIT AP University), and Vice-Chair, Dr.Usharani Nelakuditi (VFSTR University).
Recent Activities: The sub-section continues to be active, co-sponsoring events and supporting the inauguration of new IEEE student chapters, such as the one at Malineni Lakshmaiah Women's Engineering College in November 2024.
In summary, the IEEE Guntur Sub Section is an essential, active entity within the IEEE Hyderabad Section, focused on promoting technological advancement and professional development, especially among the large number of engineering students in the Guntur region, and has been actively operating and supporting student branches for well over a decade.
